Farewell Sarah Jane Smith

For those of you that watched Doctor Who back in the 70s and early 80s like I did, you would surely remember his assistant Sarah Jane Smith. The actress who played her, Elizabeth Sladen, has died of cancer.

I was at boarding school in Oxford when she was the Doctor's companion. I can tell you exactly where I was for 25 minutes on October 23, 1976 -- sitting in the house common room, watching Sarah Jane leave the TARDIS for good.

Of course, that said the stage for the arrival of K9. And, since I was a kid, a robotic dog was far more interesting. ;)

Of course it wasn't for good, as Sarah Jane Smith made her comeback in 2006 and several times since then.
