Filming in Paris, France

I'll be staying in Paris for a few days in May and want to shoot some Super8. I would like to know whether it is film-safe over there, do they x-ray luggages on entry to tourist places like Eiffel tower or Disneyland? If they do can you ask them to hand-check your films? Also are there any shops I could buy Super8 film-stock and then have it processed so I don't have to worry about x-raying on airports? I'll be happy for any answer or suggestion, thank you

When I've been to Paris several years ago, there had been several smaller shops and even fnac to sell Super8-K40 and some Super8-Plus-X/Tri-X. Not sure about the current situation.

x-ray:
When I've been to Paris (incl. Disneyland) several years ago, they didn't x-ray anywhere except for the airport. But things might have changed.

Hi Rudat, I am living in Paris and never had any problem with airport's Xrays as long as you keep your films with you (no fogging issues), and I have been traveling a lot with 20 to 50 films each times (shooting super8 is part of my job). So yes, it is film safe.

Nevertheless, you won't find many shops selling super8 films, actually there is the one mentionned earlier Lab Distribution, but they don't have all the options (usually TriX and sometimes Ekta 64) and one or two more on the same street (a street famous for second hand photo market (famous = expensive)).
Please note that the stocks are pretty expensive here compared to the USA.
For the processing, you'd better fly back with your exposed films as they usually send these to Germany for processing (Andec Film) and it could be expensive (euros + time).

Thank you arnaud for your help, I'll definitely take my current stock to Paris and then let it process back home. And I'll let you all know how airport x-rays are doing with the films

I had my films in hama 3200 bag x-rayed twice - in Prague on the way to Paris and then in Paris on the way back home. No damage at all. Hope this helps.

Of course it doesn't.

To prove anything you would have needed to transport and x-ray films inside and outside the bag through the same route.

This is how urban legend come into existence or how non-working medicine is practiced.

Films will not be damaged by modern x-ray machines. I.e. the machine aren't from the fifties
