the other, more flexible approach is a bellow, too (cheapo GDR version for $20) with M42-to-EF adaptor. on the other end, I mouted a M42 to M39 adaptor ring and put a Rodenstock Apo-Rodagon enlarger lens on. This lens is incredibly sharp and known for its very high resolution. Stopping it down to f/5.6 or 8 provides awesome results in 5616x3744 and 14 bit per channel.

I walked past a garage sale the other week, and saw Manfroto lighting tripods amongst the books, teddy bears and pirated videos. I asked if they had any other photo equipment, in particular: an enlarger lens. The woman went inside the house, emerging with her retired husband, who produced a Rodenstock Apo-Rodagon. $20. I put it on the bellows (with some folded paper as a temporary mount) and the improvement was extradordinary.

That price is an insult to the value of such a lens. Which has a value of Euro 400-500.

So you are lucky to get one legaly at $20.

Not to start a thread hijack but it makes one wonder if legislation on buying art at extreme bargain prices would apply here too. I.e. it is not legal to knowningly purchase an artwork worth some millions (by Rembrandt van Rijn and the like) at $1000 without informing the seller. Or a number of prints by Ansel Adams worth $100.000 at $50. etcetc
