Bell & Howell 606H

Post by rickgreencf32 »

Hi - as someone totally new to cine projectors I'm after some information and advice.
I've just become the owner of a Bell and Howell 606H in absolute pristine condition - it looks as though its hardly ever been used. However, there are no reels, power cable or instruction booklet/leaflet. The research I've managed to do so far suggests that these were a highly rated projector and d ate from the mid 50's. Could anyone advise - is it worth trying to find a power lead and getting this working or are the electrics likely to be past their sell by date and as someone with no knowledge of 8mm cine, is this worthwhile holding on to or would it be a sensible option to sell it on to someone who can appreciate it properly?

The power cable obviously plugs into the wall but does it also just plug into the projector or is it (was it) hard wired into it? If it just plugs in then any decent hardware store has cords that might fit it. If not one could be made easy enough I think. You would just need one reel for film take up and as far as the manual goes you can figure out how it works easy enough if you just look it over good. I say go for it!

I'm not claiming this will work but i think if you research "small appliance cords" you might find one that fits.

Thanks for those ideas - The power supply wasn't hard wired, but the socket for it on the projector has four flat pins in a square with a round pin set slightly above centre. Your link didn't have anything like this but I'll keep searching. As I'm UK based and the projector was made over here perhaps I'll find something here.
