3d mapping in image stabilisation

Post by Scotness »

Have a look at this for the next generation of image stabilisation software - I don't think the programme is available yet though

You can do it with any motion tracking software and a 3D authoring program.

For motion tracking there is an open source solution here:

For 3D authoring I use Lightwave but that's a commercial package.I imagine you could use Blender instead.

1. Load and track a shot in Voodoo.
2. Export camera motion as a 3D scene file.
3. Load scene file into 3D software.
3. Attach projection screen to the tracked camera onto which you project the shot. Make sure the screen is very far away.
4. Attach a camera, either to the original camera, or that moves along a smooth path rather than the original path. Often the original camera path is fine. It's usually just the rotation that is jerky.
5. Adjust the rotation of the second camera, with keyframes and smooth interpolation, while following the projection screen and framing so as not to see empty space.
6. Render the shot.
