re calibrating the light meter, agfa microflex 300

recently i bought an agfa microflex 300 and the flea market here in turin for 3 euros, it seems to be in perfect working order.

the problem is that it dosent read the cartrige notches at all, which i assume means that it only work with 40 asa film.

it looks like a modification is the only posibility to use 64t film.

i opened it up to see whats going on inside, and i've found the light sensor, and its adjustment potentiometers.

if it had a light meter needle that showed me what the meter was reading that would have been easy, i'd just have tweaked the potentiometer untill the light meter read 2/3 f stops higher than before.

but since there is no feedback to show what the meter is reading, how can i best adjust the light meter?

the best idea i could come up with was to shoot a reel of film with diferent setting, taking a note of each one then choose the best setting when the film come back. isn't there an easier way?

Isn't there a under exposure warning light? point the camera to a situation where it just comes on. then reduce 2/3 stop the brightness using a exposure meter and then adjust till it switches off and comes on again.

use a projector or enlarger with aperture control for adjustable lightsource.

please post a picture of the opened camera and the marked adjuster.

yes! theres an under exposure warning, in the form of a black triangle that pops into the left hand side of the veiwfinder when the light is too low.

i don't have an exposure meter! maybe i could use my canon autozoom 814 pointed at the same source. although its metering is kind of vague.

my projector dosent have an aperture control, but i do have a dimmer for theater lights.

regarding the right potentiometer to tweak, am i'm right in thinking that the one to adjust is the one that seems to be wired in series with the light meter? since it obviously changes the reading at the lowest level. the camera is full of pots. (and surface mount transistors, which suprised me).

thanks, now i can start taking a super8 camera everywhere i go! my tiny agfa mircoflex is so nice it dosent deserve to become obselete.

Don't forget which position it had! The most important thing is that the aperture closes down or opens

nearly done, i changed the nasty old preset pot for a nice modern trimpot and drilled a hole in the case to access it.

as soon as i get the chance i'll re adjust it to meter corectly for 64t
unfortunatly my dimmer has been shiped to holland for a show i'm doing there.

i'd love to take some pictures to share my experiences but i dont have a digicam.

Would you be able to share some info on how to access the pot inside the camera, how to open it up etc?
That would be great, as I'm looking to modify mine but don't have a clue how to get at it.
