Here is the top secret synopsis - don't tell anyone:

It is about an ugly monster from the 10th dimension. Caught on Super8. The chemistry of Kodachrome 40 can see wavelengths from beyond the boundarys of this universe. Etched into the quantum mechanical space between the dye clouds of the Super 8 emulsion is the shape of the beast looking into our world. If the Super8 film is projected the wrong way it can cause a wormhole to open between this world and the other. And that is what happens during a drunk birthday party. The screening of a teenage monster movie, in conjunction with experimental disco lighting involving lasers that one of the teenagers has borrowed from his dad's lab, opens the wormhole. The government manages to contain the beast and ship it off to Area 52 in a magnetic containment field.
Originally the teenagers were to have fallen in love with the beast devising a way of rescuing it using an ex Vietnam reel to reel portapak rewired to the correct frequency response, but the script was changed to the beast escaping and stalking them down one by one, until defeated by the hero using cross processed Kodachrome40 installed in an Agfa Super8 camera, wired to a laser, and used as a ray gun.
