Alan Smithee!
I believe this very underrated and much maligned director will in time be recognized as one of the greats of the 20th century. His breakthrough film Death of a Gunfighter received great reviews. As far as critical acclaim goes his filmography is a mix of positives and negatives, the mark of a director who is willing to take chances. Although his self satirizing Burn Hollywood Burn, an Alan Smithee Film has been universally panned I think it will, in time, be recognized for the masterpiece it is.
