100D Sample DIY HD Xfer

Post by Tscan »

Some recent clips cut together from E 100D. most of it I shot on the 814XLS, and a tad from the Nizo 481. Transferred with Workprinter XP and Sony HDR-HC9. I have some rolling shutter issues, Vegas 10 has a fix but I still need to upgrade. I'm trying a technique where I shot a white surface, and a grey card on film. then using that sample to set my white balance and exposure on subsequent transfers. It helps give an overall better transfer thats much easier to correct. I shot my samples in bright sun, and might shoot a few more samples in other conditions.

Looks very much like what I got when projecting 100D. I'm sorry, I don't like the colours - they are not natural.
100D has actually the same emulsion as the slide film 100VS with "VS" standing for vivid saturation. I tried the slide film and had partly the same odd colours. There is also a 100G, which I haven't tried yet; is there anybody with experience with 100G and its colours?

Yeah, you either love it or hate it. The intensity of the colors is exactly what I like. I tend to go for more surreal looks, which is why I shoot film, or super 8 for that matter. When I shoot negative, I put a lot of effort into punching it and trying to get away from the more muted or natural look to things.
