Sankyo CME 1100 repair

Post by kontrabass888 »

I got a Sankyo CME 1100 in very good condition with box. But the light meter and zoom in function doesn't work. I try to open it but it is not as easy as Nizo or Beaulieu. I even couldn't find where are the screws.

Who knows that how to repair it or where can the camera be serviced?

I know a camera repair man in the London, England part of Middle Earth.. He would charge a few wee weights of gold to fix it... Maybe £50 or £100 UK Pound Sterling. Speak to google.co.uk or google.co.uk maps with the words: "hendon london camera repair axco"

Someone on super8wiki says that's the top of line Sankyo. I've got a book called "The Camera Sutra", it's all about "doing it" with Sankyo cameras. Sankyo owners really love their cameras!

Does the needle move in the viewfinder when you rotate the exposure wheel? I have gotten inop auto exposure working on a Sankyo by just rotating the wheel back and forth to operate the switch which puts it into auto mode at the end of the travel. Maybe worth a shot...

The needle moves when I turn the wheel from the manual-mark till the fix-mark, it moves from 1.8-32. but when I turn it to the Auto, the needle will just stay the 1.8 end.

Do you mean when you put the wheel on auto the needle doesn't move but the auto exposure works?

Sorry I made a mistake about the needle. It will stay at the F32 end when I turn the wheel to auto.

OK I will explain more clear about the needle now.

1)When the power is switched off, in AUTO, the needle will stay at F1.8
2)When the power is switched on, in AUTO, the needle will go to the F32 and stay there.
3)When the power switched off , in Manual, the needle will stay at F1.8
4)When the power switched on, in Manual, the needle will follow the wheel turning to move. but there no any information in the viewfinder to show the exposure level.

There is a red light which is above the viewfinder always turned on when power switched on, and a green light which is under the viewfinder, will be turned on when press the trigger.

I have this camera - if the meter is moving when you rotate the wheel, it is changing the aperture - look inside the lens with a flashlight and see it move while you rotate the dial...so, the camera would be OK to use in manual.

Cheers,
Mike

The needle moves when I rotate the dial but there is no flashlight moving in the viewfinder. there are one red light on top which is always on, and a green light on the bottom which will turned on when the camera motor runs.

Not quite (something lost in translation from English here)...Get a flashlight (torch, thing with batteries and light bulb, preferably LED kind).

Take torch/flashlight and shine it INTO the lens...

Now, turn the dial manually to change the aperture...

You should see the aperture move inside the lens...

You may have to change the zoom setting to make the rear elements look big...

Best of luck.

PS - I could be persuaded to sell mine if you are interested...

I looked from the film gate, the aperture is moving when I dial the manual control. so it will work in Manual mode. Thanks

a miracle happened today. I screwed a tripod screw on the tungsten light mount, after I unscrew it, the light meter start to work.

So it is 100% working now.

Finally I found out the real reason. When the "fade out" is turned on,the red light on top of the viewfinder will turn on, the auto mode will start with F32. I tested without film. maybe that is the reason the meter stays at f32.

When I turn the button to fade in, the red light is turned off, and the light meter start working.

But I got an other question now. HOW to turn off both of the fade in and fade out due to the light meter matter during filming?
