Quarz Zenit DS8 manual?

Post by mr8mm »

There was a link to Quarz Zenit manuals a few months ago that is now broken. Specifically I need a manual to the "2-8C-3" DS8 camera. I know "C" is "s" in russian. There is a dial on the side of the camera that is half white and half black with the letters "OTK^" and "BK^". These are the Cyrillic letters not latin letters. I know the dial involves loading the film into the camera. But what is the translation for these letters?

I can't offer a manual but David Haardt has a page Here giving a brief user guide that mentions a dial labeled VKL/OTKL that is for controling the pulldown claw
The dial labelled VKL/OTKL (domestic version) or EIN/AUS (export version) is for controlling the pull-down claw. For normal filming, this dial has to be in the VKL or EIN position. The OTKL or AUS position is used for rewinding film (for lap dissolves) and for releasing pressure from the film-transport wind-up spring without transporting film.

All the best , Paul

Hi,

the German manuals for the Quarz 1x8 S-2 and Quarz DS8-M can be downloaded here: http://www.super8aid.net/cameras.html

The Russian manual for the 2x8s-1m is available here:
http://www.zenitcamera.com/mans/quarz-2 ... 8s-1m.html
(You can use Google-Translation or Yahoo-Babelfish to do an online-translation.)

Thanks for the useful information. The Babalfish translation comes up with a pretty weird translation to english. Ein und aus makes sense however.
