I can not get this to work.
Roger recommended I get MainConcept DV Codec 2.4.16, I download and installed this, but if I pick this for my compression codec and I select the process button it just buts a red X on the avi file.
If I pick the old "DV Video Encoder" I was using before it works fine
I have a call into Roger for this but thought maybe one of you could solve this for me and I wouldn't need to bug Roger about it.
Your help is greatly appreciated,
Bruce

Re: CineCap with Mainconcept codec not working
Sounds like it's crippleware? Is it a free codec - do you have to pay for it? I've been using the Panasonic DV codec and have pretty good experiences with it.

Re: CineCap with Mainconcept codec not working
I did indeed have to pay for this Codec, from
http://www.mainconcept.com/products/app ... codec.html
it was recommended by Roger from http://www.moviestuff.tv to run with my copy or CineCap http://www.alternaware.com/.
I have no clue what a Codec is or how it works, can I use this codec with Vegas Movie Studio and if so how do I do it,
Your help as always is much appreciated,
Bruce

Re: CineCap with Mainconcept codec not working
In that case Bruce it probably sounds like a conflict with Cinecap -- I'd get in touch with the author of that programme -- doesn't he post here occasionally - Jeff??.
I don't use cinecap - but I found huffyuv a really good lossless codec.
There's a good description of what codecs are here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Codec - you should be able to use this with Vegas - usually you install a codec in your PC and then it works with most if not all of your video applications

You might also want to go back to the site where you bought the codec - it will list some minimum system requirements - you might want to check that your hardware and operating system are compatible

Re: CineCap with Mainconcept codec not working
OK I have tried the Mainconcept Codec on 3 different PC's with Cinecap and it does not work on any of them, all PC's are running Windows XP.
I downloaded and installed Huffyuv v2.1.1 codec I read about and I get the same error with this codec.
I went back into Cinecap and tried all the different codec and only 7 of the 20 work.
I am at a total loss,
Bruce
