It works flawlessly in Premiere CS4 (and I presume CS3 too). If it doesen´t work in Premiere Pro 1,5 it is more than likely because it is such a old version of the software.

Try updating Quicktime, that might help (you need Quicktime installed and updated).

The SD version can be converted to AVI with Mpeg Streamclip: http://www.squared5.com/

When you open the software, go list-batchlist-add files-choose destination-export to AVI-choose Apple DV-PAL as codec (if you want to stick to PAL) and make sure sound is on uncompressed-and click go.

Seth, sent you a PM regarding this. Thanks.

Great stuff Seth- it's so nice to see it all in one movie (and now everyone can see it- at last!) :-)

Hey mik, I kind of like your film segment--not what you intended, I know, but it is still interesting. Cool abstract compositions and flashes of images. Is that the totality of your clip, or is the church stuff after the abstract images yours as well?

Yes, thanks Seth for the vimeo posting. I wish now that I had put some slate info in there identifying my segment. And wish everyone had as well. Maybe if you (or someone) does some kind of rough edit they can get the shooters info from Sparky and insert that between segments. I know, you have all the time in the world, right?

Great little film--she's a natural. And very groovy rain gear. :)

I'm maxed out on any additional editing I'm doing to this project, haha! Like most, I think I'm just happy to see the raw footage.

I gotta say, I think my favorite piece is the "I live here because I like the color Red" segment....superbly done for a project like this!

So I just made the first DVD of this raw footage (NTSC). If anybody would like a copy and wants to pay $5 (I know I said $4 before but I jumped the gun!) you can, and that should cover the cost of the blank media and shipping. You can send a $5 payment via PayPal to me at: videoseth (at) yahoo (dot) com or pop a $5 dollar bill (with your name and address) in the mail to me at:

Seth Mondragon
PO Box 130519
Carlsbad, CA 92013

I hope that's okay with those who participated. I'm not trying to make a profit off this, just cover the costs and get a DVD in the hands of those who want it to see it!

I did my best to put a chapter point at the beginning of what appeared to be each new segment, hopefully I got it right but there was one (but might have been two) that were very dark and I couldn't really tell if it was one segment or if it was two dark segments back-to-back.

Any questions, shoot me an email, PM or post here. Peace!

That's great isn't it! When I was splicing the films together and winding the reels, the "redness" jumped out and I had to stop and peak through a loupe- lovely idea Alastair!

I think we got a really nice mix of different things here and it works well as a project.

Mark

PS Mik, I agree with Tim- your piece is interesting, in a good, if unintentional way ;-)

Awesome. Thanks Seth for uploading it to Vimeo. I think there are several interresting pieces there, but why did I only shoot ten secs? Strange. Anywho, it was nice to see again, and cool that this finally is finished.

Re: PTC 1. The next step- editing.

Post by Sparky »

I know it's early days yet and everyone seems happy just to see the raw footage, but is anyone planning on doing a proper edit on this project? I think a few of the pieces could do with a bit of level tweaking/colour balancing etc to bring the best out of them. Maybe an idea would be if each shooter worked their own piece to the way they like it then submit it, maybe with some sound too to be stitched together? Unless someone's keen to do the whole thing?
Just an idea,
Mark

Thanks. Mine is only the black part :)
Idea was like that - These flashing images are small parts of an image recorded by camera - crossroad in the center of Warsaw. When these partial images are separated by time (black parts with no image) it's difficult to recognize what it is. But when the amount of image parts increase in time (at the end it's every frame) you start to clearly see the whole image even with details (but still there's no any frame with whole image on the film, frames are exactly the same, but frequency changes). It was my attempt to record only fragments and let the mind to do the rest.

I saw the vimeo upload today...great to finally see everybody's film.

I'm downloading the HD files, might make a blu-ray when time permits. Got lots of projects backed up because of PC problems with my main machine.

I saw all the stuff on Vimeo, thanks to Seth I didn't have to splice all the pieces together: it's unbelieveble we can now see everithing, after 4 long years! Very nice!

Now I'm downloading the HD version, and my next idea (but limited just to my little piece: the story of the girl with the camera and the thief on the bicycle) is to shoot it off the computer screen to super8: from super8 to digital and back!

And, since there are also some little cuts that need to be done, I think that I'll go old fashion, using the viewer and the splicer instead of a NLE...

bye, livio
