Thanks Christoph- the more the better!
Kent the peer I see has a US flag next to it. Christoph just popped up as a peer I think (a German peer anyway) so now there are 2!

Re: PTC 1. The next step.
Christoph, do you know what happends if Sparky copies the files from the hard drive he will receive in a few days, and overwrites the files that the torrent software is slowly building up?
Does the torrent software go "wow, done already? Now I´ll start seeding like hell.", or does it go nuts and quit the download/upload completely?
It could be interesting to test. If it works then Spraky could start to instantly seed everything (from his work computer).
The files he will receive on the hard drive is identical to the ones I used to create the torrent.

Now both torrents are uploading!
All it took was some time and patience.

Re: PTC 1. The next step.
Interesting idea Kent- maybe worth a try?
I just started the HD download which seems to be working also, but I'll stop now and let someone else have a go.

most torrent clients should have an option to relink the torrent file to the new complete files, so he could indeed share immediately and you'd have 2 peers at 100%.Uppsala BildTeknik wrote:Christoph, do you know what happends if Sparky copies the files from the hard drive he will receive in a few days, and overwrites the files that the torrent software is slowly building up?
it's best to make a google search on how to do it with the specific client, something like:
http://tinyurl.com/3yymuf2
brings up this thread:
http://forum.staging.utorrent.com/viewt ... p?id=57245
i'm not sure the torrent is fully working though, the HD files show 0 peers here, and the SD files show 1 peer and no upload. might be best to upload the .torrentfile to piratebay

Hi Christoph, I think it is working- I just stopped the HD torrent on my machine but it was downloading. And I see you as a peer on the SD torrent. I accidentally sopped them both momentarily but the SD is downloading again now.

What we really need is some other PTCers to join the swarm.

OK, you can find out how to and where to, and upload the .torrent files somewhere then.As far as I can see they quit hosting the .torrent files and are now using DHT tracking, wich doesen´t use a centralized tracker (or something like that) http://torrentfreak.com/the-pirate-bay- ... od-091117/christoph wrote:might be best to upload the .torrentfile to piratebay.

Re: PTC 1. The next step.
well, it works somehow, but it seems not optimal to me..
at the moment my SD download stopped at 280MB and the HD file at 24MB both with 0 peers showing. i suspect that i downloaded from sparky but didnt get a connection to kent.
DHT is quite clever, but there's more chances that thing go wrong. pitty that tpb doesnt host anymore, they used to be very reliable. the other trackers you added in the torrent seem out of order.
you could try the following:
create a test torrent with only a few 100 MB and use mininova for a tracker. they are a good leagal site and have a detailed instruction:
http://forum.mininova.org/index.php?showtopic=234992250
and here's a thread about active trakcers:
http://forum.mininova.org/index.php?showtopic=235054324
http://www.trackon.org/
problem is that it's no use for us upload your torrent file unless you registered the tracker while creating the torrent, and i think it needs to connect to your computer first anyway.

Re: PTC 1. The next step.
I turned it off as it was just an experiment from home, but you should have still been able to connect to Kent- it seems to take quite a long time to negotiate a connection. I just started up again to see who was connected and there aren't any peers at the moment. It took maybe 5 mins to start again. I'll get my work line going this afternoon and leave it on all week.
The tracker is working I think as I see one listed as denis.stalker....
It was working very well so I suggest we keep going like this.

Re: PTC 1. The next step.
Anyone who wants to, give me a FTP link and I will upload everything to you, then you can setup the torrent.
If the torrents I created work, fine. If they don´t, you are free to make a new torrent. I don´t have more time for all this, when I don´t even know if it is going to work, sorry.
It shouldn´t take a long time to make a connection, so it seems as if something is not working properly.

Re: PTC 1. The next step.
Well it was working very well (for me) before- lets give it till tomorrow and I get my work line up before doing anything hasty. Would be good to wait for a few others to try with the new torrent files and report their experiences too. I downloaded 500MB no problem earlier. When I get the HD I can set up another if needed.
