Fisher Price PXL 2000 Pixelvision? Opinions?

Post by Kircules »

I recently acquired one of these neat little cameras that records on old audio cassette tapes. It seems like there is a little bit of a cult following.

I shoot a good amount of super8, in fact when I bought this camera I also picked up a Bolex 551XL Macro and 12 rolls of expired Tri-X for a buck a roll.

I haven't shot anything yet, but I'm deciding between trading it for a new super 8, like a 1014 XLS or keeping it around for projects.

I'm shipping it to a guy who rebuilds it and puts in professional AV jacks and a aperture knob amongst a few other hacks.
Kinda Neat!

Looking for opinions on whether to keep it or sell it.
Anyone shoot with one before?

Lot's of footage and experimental shorts out there. Best use of the Pixelvision cam, in a feature, no less, is in Linklater's Slacker. Check it out.

Famously said, in a line from the film, "There ain't no film in that shit."

Can you give me the information on the person that is repairing it and installing the AV plugs. I have one of these cameras put it doesn't work. Would be nice to get it fixed and mess around.

The Guy who does all these mods has a company named "Bentstraments".
Supposed to be the #1 tech on these cameras ever.

Thanks for all the info and links!

I think I'm going to rebuild it and hang onto it for a while. Maybe shoot a music video or something!

Thanks again!
