The last batch of 64T is a lot of better then the earlier.
When it arrived in the super8 family I hated it, but now to loose the ekta64T is a sad news...
I hope Kodak will give us two reversible emulsions, but they don't have in stock a slower film then 100ASA now...

Just buy the film from them. They will take their markup and make just about the same amount considering the labor is so much less. What does this mean for companies like Wittner etc?
I know it would mean that buying Super 8 100d packaged by Kodak will be cheaper - so where does it leave them?
These are the people we will need come the day that Kodak finally pull the plug ( a long way of hopefully judging by the latest news!)
Besides, a company like Spectra will make much more with telecine than the sale of film. Plus, they will always be able to do the processing so send it to your favorite lab.
Keep buying Velvia 50D from them as well if you really want to encourage them to repackage film. Having access to Fuji films is a great option.

I really like the E100D too!
What I never understood is why there always was such a big thing about E64T not being accurate for cameras that understand 40 ASA only - I used it several times in such cameras and there is absolutely no problem with it (examples have been given here on the forum). If there had been marketing by Kodak for it, I'd have said that they completely failed making this clear ...

100D is lovely, I've used it from Wittner before. My only concern is how it might work in bright sunlight with XL camears...and that us projectionists might have no option for indoor filming if 64T goes (as I expect, it's cancelled in other formats if memory serves).
Still....thank you Kodak for keeping colour reversal super 8 alive...and 100D is a fine film.

The government says that by 2010 30% of us will be fat....I am merely a trendsetter

well, according to the sunny 16 rule, i'd say most cameras will just about manage while some will overexpose a bit...Angus wrote:My only concern is how it might work in bright sunlight with XL camears...
ie in bright sunlight, you'd want to have exposure around 1/100th sec and aperture f16. so, worst case is an XL camera that only does 18fps, that's about 1/30th sec minus half a stop for the beamsplitter. so if it's lens doesn't close down smaller then f16, then you'll have about 1stop overexposure.
the good news is that ND filter are very common and affordable in nearly all diameters, so i recommend an ND9 (or 8x in photography terms), that will also bring down the aperture to a range where the lens performs better.
good news indeed.

is this officially confirmed by kodak??richard p. t. wrote:we are losing Plus-X super 8 AND IN 16mm!!!! Both 7265 and 7231! My two favorite stocks!

because it's still listed in 16mm, and it wouldnt make sense to drop it on super8 and keep it there.

if it's really happening this would very very sad indeed.

The news on
http://schmalfilm-shop.schiele-schoen.d ... uswahl.asp
Which means that there other new products to follow this year. Kodak's research goes further and Kodak steadily improves image quality.
Guess, we all have to subscribe to Schmallfilm or order this important issue with Chris Johnson, Produktmanager "Entertainment Imaging" with Kodak.

I am not commercially involved...

Gleichzeitig kündigt er weitere Produkte für Super 8 noch in diesem Jahr an. "Kodaks Forschungen gehen weiter und wir verbessern stetig die Bildqualität von Filmen",

Dear Sirs at Kodak:
The news then is not the introduction of Ektachrome 100D in Super8 (we already had it somehow) but the end of Plus-X.
To shoot mostly E100D and Fomapan R100 in B/W I would pass to DS8.

Re: soon: Ektachrome 100 D by Kodak from Kodak in Super-8
The Kodak site has the Ektachrome 100D as a Super 8 film [though I don't think there's any mention of what has happened to 64T]. Does anybody know if/when the new 100D is available to buy any and how much it will be? Can someone tell me how I would use this film in my Bauer A 512, how will the camera read this stock without the 85 filter in place.
Thanks
P
