Every little scene seems to draw on a different skill set. Very cool to see you solving the problems as they come. Thanks for sharing.

Have you cut completed scenes together yet or are you waiting until the end to see it together?

Roger when are you going to shoot a whole feature like this?? Very easy to do in HD now.....big theatrical distribution could be just around the corner!!

Thanks for looking! With a zero budget, we have to be very creative in dealing with some of the problem. Still, this has been the most expensive zero budget project I've ever worked on! :)

I've been cutting them together to view them privately but I won't post anything publicly until I'm finished. I'm already looking at the possibility of reshooting the running native cut. There's nothing wrong with the quality of the animation but I feel the run doesn't have a sense of urgency about it and seems too casual, like a morning jog. But I'm going to wait until I complete everything else before I make that judgment.

I've considered it. You can do most anything as well as the big boys with nothing more than a digital still camera and Photoshop. It's really astounding how technology has evened out the playing field.

Hi Roger - not that it really matters for this level of realism but the snakes seem to move in a strange way -- I think there's not enough forward (or right to left of screen) movement. At the moment I think it looks too much like the body mass moving through the length of each snakes in their S shape.

They seem to move better in the original cartoon - perhaps you could use that for a frame by frame overlay as a guide?


Also if there's a space between the drop shadow and the snake it makes it look like they're hovering above the ground.

Otherwise v cool as per usual!

Yeah, I messed with the shadows a bit and, you are quite correct, because the shadows are created artificially, to maintain the illusion of the raised heads then the shadow would need to be shortened a bit under the head. But also, if the shadows are too close, then the snakes look like they are flat on the ground. So I was trying to strike a balance between them kind of rising off the ground due to their coil and also touching the ground a bit in certain places. This was the best compromise I could come up with working with this method. Not perfect but I like it better than the "Gumby" snakes. I considered manipulating the shadows frame by frame but, after watching the clip cut into the rest of the other clips, it goes by so fast that it didn't seem worth it. It's really only noticable when you watch the single clip over and over by itself. At speed it just goes right by. I agree with what you are pointing out. Not totally satisfied but I'm not going to rework it again. Moving on to the next clip.

Fair enough -- percentage wise how are through the whole project would you say you are?
