Help! Beaulieu battery won't charge

Hi,
My beaulieu 4008zm2 battery wont charge all of a sudden. When I plug in the charger (to the wall and into the camera) the orange light on the charger doesnt come on like it used to. The only way I can get the orange light to come on is to engage the power supply button on the handle. It's been couple of months since I charged the battery, but it was working fine.
Any advice is appreciated.

I'm assuming your talking about the original screw in Beualieu battery pack? Do you know if the battery has been re-celled or if it's the original NiCad battery pack. It sounds like it may have quit on you from age. I do re-celling of Beaulieu packs and could test/check out your charger as well as do a re-cell for you.

Yes I'm talking about the screw in battery type. I'm not sure if its been recelled. I believe it has. Is there anyway to tell by looking at it?
How much do you charge for your services? where are you located?
Have you ever heard of the light going on only when the power switch is engaged, or does this stump you as well?

Sorry about the delay. I received a PM and I thought you were the same person...It's been one of those weeks.

In any event, the origional Beaulieu battery charger won't charge unless there's a bettery in the camera. Is your charger origional Beaulieu or something else?What I suspect is happening with your camera and battery is that the charger thinks it's charging a dead battery pack when in fact it's supplying power to the camera which makes the charge light come on. You may have something wrong with your camera charging circuit. There are resistors in the circuit between the 1/8 camera plug and the battery contacts you see down in the camera. If you've been using a charger that's larger than 30mA (Standard Beaulieu Charger) then you may have damaged the resistors in the charging circuit. They're still making a connection becasue you can power your camera with the charger but they may be damaged... It's hard to tell without the camera, battery and charger in my hands. If you want, I could send you a good pack to test with to help you determine if it's the battery. Let me know.
