I would guess that either they don't do any research before listing, or are just hoping someone will buy it who does not know what they are getting. I have often thought about collecting vintage film boxes, but that is expensive for it to just sit on a shelf.

I see many listings by this seller and they all seem high, but this one seems especially out there on price. Am I missing something here?

Uh, yeah, for an R8 with fungus on the lens and a big gash out of the side. "Nice" doesn't really describe it well. I think an R10 might fetch 600 bucks in excellent condition. That dude's fruit.

yeah I agree, I think many people try and sell old films as retro items. Although some of those old box designs are quite interesting to some people....

I got an R8 which was in good condition for about a fifth of that price.
Great camera but noisy though....
