Vision 2 500T

Post by Le Krok Productions »

As they say no question is a silly question - but here goes. I have a beaulieu 1008 xl, will it accept vision 2 500T? i.e. I can't naturally drop in the cart and bingo point and shoot. What do I need to do to ensure correct exposure? I want to film night scenes outdoors including fun fair lighting or general street scape. Is this at all possible with this camera?

Thanks and look forward to hearing from one of you knowledgeable types.

I have the same camera, if I remember correctly the fastest speed it recognises automatically is 250ASA so you could either over-expose by using the auto system or close down by one stop compared to what the auto suggests.

I used 500T once with my 1008XL but I flew on manual, shooting by the light of an oil lamp and shooting fireworks. It worked very well considering the feeble oil lamp illumination.

What sort of scene do you wish to film?

Here's the thing... sometimes people use 500T in situations that are just too poorly lit anyway. If that's what's happening in your case then the camera would be just shooting with the iris wide open anyway so might actually work ok. In other words, if you're using that stock because the shoot is in really low light, it won't matter than much if it meters it properly.

If you're trying to accurately meter then you'd have to use a spot meter and set it manually of course.

Thanks Angus and Will2 for your reply.

Angus - all I'm looking at shooting is night street scape and fun fair from a personal experience pov. No production or scripted scene here.
