Hi, been busy lately in finding an alternative for my now dead old Sony 8mm camcorder which I used for transfers. Having chased defunct camcorders with working video image section, I stumbled over CCTV cameras. I found out these modern versions use 1/2" CCD chips, with C/CS mounted lenses, with 752 x 582 pixels, 470 TV lines hor. resolution. And all things like shutter and iris can be controlled. Lots of sensitivity included. They sell for 100-140 Euro used. I picked up a very good Sony SSC-DC58AP for 140 Euro. Fantastic image quality, S-Video or comp. video out.
Lenses are C or CS mount (both!) so I can use my Switar primes or zoom, collimation a non-issue, you simply move the CCD frame back and forth with a big knob. These are great cameras for video transfers!

Hello Bart,
I have been looking into getting a decent CCTV camera myself and mount one of those ultra close-up zoom microscope lenses that magnifies from 2X to 16X to image direct off the film from the gate of the projector.
And maybe I could modify my Elmo dual gauge FCP deluxe projector which has a one per frame pulse contact for capturing the individual frames to my computer.
The results should be interesting.
