Movikon 8 with light

Post by Will2 »

I've been shooting with this camera for a few days now.

Simple and easy to use and the daylight balanced light should make the indoor shots interesting. Shooting mostly B&W now.

Even with the light it's fairly small and easy to use.

I think a purist would find that bordering on blasphemy. So, how are you enjoying the running mechanism? As I recall, I think this camera tends to run slow when the winding runs down. Did you know there are adapter lenses for wide angle and telephoto?

Seriously, nice work on being creative on a light source.

Yes, it gives that really bad lighting look old home movies used to have with those crazy hot & bright lights that used to mount to cameras.

Nice round circle of light on faces close up; exactly what you'd want to avoid if you didn't actually want that look.

I have noticed that it slows down at the end of a wind... surprising that Zeiss would have made something like that. Haven't gotten a reel back yet so I'll see how it works. This is one with variable speeds from 16-48 fps.

I am actually looking for an especially crappy look. I have some great 16mm cameras. When I'm making a masterpiece I can use them.

I'd love the wide-angle adapter but I haven't run across one yet.

I think I've still got the leather box that the two accessory lenses came in originally. It's lacking not only the lens but also the bit of furry cardboard they sit on. Has an flashunit in, I think, somewhere. It's not difficult to ask film models to move more slowly toward the end of the wind. Adds interest etc.

Agreed! So that would be more like 0-48fps with automatic variability under 16fps.

Interesting camera. Is it hard to change film?
What light is that?

I have one, great cameras. The secret in loading is to attach the leader to the take up spool out of the camera, place the film in the gate and CLOSE IT. Then twist the spools onto the spindles. It's a doddle once you know how!

The black pinstripe does not appear to be original...but cool cameras all the same.
