I'm going to be shooting some tri-x soon, actually about 10 carts. I haven't shot any since they changed it a few years ago. I seem to remember reading that they decreased the grain and contrast on it when they changed it? What are the real differences? I really love everything I have shot with it in the past, especially the grain and contrast, thats why I used it and I am hoping to get the same results.
I've also heard that shooting it and having it processed as negative will help out when it comes to telecine so I was considering this. Will this make a difference in the overall image quality? Can I get some recommendations on what labs in the USA will process it as negative?

Re: Shooting Tri-X
I did not compare the new stock on the same conditions but the grain seems less apparent. I use a Y2 yellow filter. I find it easier to "think" black and white and be less influenced by the color of the scene when framing. The filter also increase contrast. Good luck. Jean
