What kind of projector might that have been?

What kind of projector might that have been?
Just remembered that over 20 years ago, some guy offered me film projectors of a make with a French name. I don't think it was Beaulieu, though it might be possible I just got the name wrong.
The projectors were old even then, but with sound. Large, white and red varnished plate, no plastic, very robust. Don't remember the details, and he never took one down the shelf to show me in detail.
It was one of these garage shops on the countryside, and I guess it doesn't exist anymore (even forgot hzis name), but I still would like to know what kind or make they were of. I just remember "Velvieux" or something, but it doesn't bring anything up in Google.
Maybe someone here knows what I mean?

Wonderful machine - tri-film!
The models I saw were much younger. Ok, now I know what to look for
Thanks a lot!

Could it be a Heurtier? Jean
Re: What kind of projector might that have been?
Yes! Heurtier was the solution. I searched the net and found
http://www.super8data.com/database/proj ... urtier.htm
As far as I remember, the bigger, later models were the ones he showed me. Didn't take it seriously then, but now I see it with different eyes
I'll keep my eyes open on ebay etc. to find such a thing, but it would have to be for standard + super 8 and sound, so the choice is limited...

Re: What kind of projector might that have been?
The only thing that comes to mind is Leica and possibly Bolex, although neither of them are French.....
Pull that old movie camera out of the closet! I'm sure it's hungry for some film!
Re: What kind of projector might that have been?
I've never seen a Leica projector, but I actually own a Bolex one I guess. It's a small one without sound but with quite a lot of speeds from 3 to 18 f/s, rather modern model (is it Bolex? Hm, I'll look it up when we get home).
On one of my England trips when having few money, I filmed S8 with a Bauer camera that could do 9 f/s, just to be able to save film and have the fun of the stroboscopic effect. Still able to show that film with this projector...
The French make isn't what I was looking for explicitly, I'm German. But I found that none of the German firms ever made projectors that looked as robust as Heurtier projectors do. Maybe they just look like this but are rather problematic in reality? :?

Re: What kind of projector might that have been?
bolex sold the same unit with a slightly different case under their brand name (as Bolex 18-3 i think). manufactured by eumig though.Sounds like a Eumig 610D to me...
++ c.
Re: What kind of projector might that have been?
Bolex 18-3, that's it, I think.
I just bought an Eumig 610 D here on a fleemarket in Sweden - it has only 3 speeds: 9, 18 and 24 f/s. The Bolex one (or relabled Eumig one...) has more: 3, 6, 9, 12 and 18 f/s.

The 610D does 3,6,9,12,18 and still frame.
Some of the lower end Eumigs in that range (607, 605) have fewer speeds, maybe it was one of those?

Re: What kind of projector might that have been?
You are right
On the cardboard box there is no number, and the manual is for 3 different models. But the projector is a 605 D and it can make 6, 9 and 18 f/s.
I used to have an S 610 D or S 710 D (as far as I remember...), but after many years, it began scratching the films and the drive was worn out so it couldn't hold speed anymore. In London
I bought a plastic projector (they said it be an Italian make) with electronic speed regulation which has replaced it sinced then. Those were the last days when you could buy such things new. Shortly after, the video area began...
The plastic thing has never let me down, by the way. The only thing I had to do was changing the belt once a few years ago (the old one had become soft).
