Using Vision2 500T in a Canon 814xls

Post by oskar »

Help needed!

After working with only reversal films for three year it's now time to try out negative film aswell.

The problem is that I don't really have time to do any test shootings before I'm supposed to shoot some actual material for a project we are working on, and I'm not sure if my camera recognizes 500 ASA film. So in other words I'm not sure how to expose the film. Could some of you guys help me out with this? Any hints on how to expose the film correctly? Is there something I should think about when I'm shooting on negative film?

I'm shooting on a Canon 814xls and using Vision2 500T.

All help and hints are more than welcome!

( I tried to find some old posts about this subject but couldn't find any concerning the 814xls..)

Respectfully,

Overexpose up to a stop whenever possible.

The 814XLS will run V500 fine. The way Kodak sets it up, it will be automatically one-stop overexposed at ASA 250, but that's per their recommendation.

If you want to, you can cut a filter notch in the cartridge, in which case the film will be exposed at ASA 400. This way you will also be able to use the internal 85 correction filter.

If you wish-- with no notch-- you can place an external 85 filter over the lens for when using the film outdoors, but it's not necessary. The color cast can be removed in the transfer.

The VISION's Kodak cartridge automatically disables the internal 85 filter so that you can't use it, and at the same time it sets the meter to ASA 250. Cutting a filter notch overrides this.

Thank you guys for your answers.

We are working on a documentary project and I think I'm going to mainly shoot with the Vision2 500T indoors. We might have one lamp with us, but we are mostly working with exsisting light.
