Fujica Z1 Camera Questions
A few questions on the Fujica Z1 silent Single-8 camera; when the trigger is pressed lightly (not fully in so that main motor runs) a small motor is heard to kick in. What is this? Also, the exposure; it wasn't till I actually loaded a film that the exposure appeared correct when looking at the pointer through the viewfinder. Why is this? And yes, I have fitted a new exposure meter mercury equivalent battery. Thank you for your assistance!

Re: Fujica Z1 Camera Questions
Possibly the aperture is moved by a motor? Or a things which makes some noise. The old cameras were more using actuator. Or coil driven levers.
The correct exposure can only be found if the cartridge is in because these have a notch which can be read by the camera.

Re: Fujica Z1 Camera Questions
Will this camera read the Fuji Sing-8 stocks now newly manufactured: 25N & 200N? What speeds of Single-8 film were available a few years back, when Single-8 was in it's heyday?

Same stocks as now pretty much...my Z2 does not make a sound like yours...it's meter works all the time...unless you turn the dial to off. Shoot single 8 while you can - it won't be around for long...check out single8film.com for more info.

Hi,
the camera can read the following ASA-notches: 16, 25, 50, 100, 200, 400
So it'll work with all films that are currently available/announced.

Take care,
Jörg
P.S.: I also think that the noice will come from the motor for the auto-exposure. Simply point your turned-on camera towards a turned-on lamp (without looking at the lamp) and then back to some dark spots and hear if the noise occurs again.

That's only correct for the Fujichrome R25N/RT200N. Nevertheless there will still be the single8-films released by Retro8. In Europe those films are also available at Wittner, Super8ReversalLabs and FFR (and probably other shops).super8man wrote:Shoot single 8 while you can - it won't be around for long...check out single8film.com for more info.
