frame-by-frame with HD camcorder?

A friend of mine suggests to use his Everio HD (high def) camcorder with my "workprinter-like" transfer unit. So far I have been usind 3CCD Panasonic miniDV camcorder together with frame-by-frame capturing with cinecap (mouse triggered).
Now, I have no slightlest idea on how to use this new HD camcorder for doing essentially same thing - frame by frame capturing.
Is that possible? And if yes, then what hardware/software would you recommend?

Nobody has experience with HD camcorders? No real time streaming possible with HD?
