I have a Canon Scoopic MS that I bought many years ago and it's still in mint condition. I've considered selling it several times because I don't use it much anymore, but just can't force myself to let it go.
They're great cameras. Rock steady, built like tanks and ever reliable. I have a couple of wind-up 16mm cams as well and have used them for fun, but I've actually shot a feature with the Scoopic. The MS is considerablly quieter than the other Scoopics, but it still has to be blimped if you want to shoot sync sound.
The only drawback the Scoopic has is the fixed lens.
Good luck.

Re: 16 mm. What camera to buy
I shot with Bolex, Beaulieu and Scoopic and to a easy point and shot I prefer scoopic, it is like a S8 camera, very portable, little batteries (and easy to recell) and the lens is sharp. Bolex are great cameras, very well designed and made, they have the option of the interchangeable lenses but the viewfinder is a drawback, Beaulieu are great cameras too, like Bolex, with interchangeable lenses and bright viewfinder but are very delicate and needs reapair much more than Bolex or Scoopics

Everyone: Check out the ultra-16 workflow at http://www.cinelicious.tv which is a much less expensive mod on cameras (like the scoopic) to allow for HD aspect ratio. The example footage is really attractive.
This was shot on a scoopic and makes me much more interested in going this route. Just wanted to share.

Bolex Light Meter internal and in a switar
I have a question about the bolex smb and ebm series. These do not have an light meter.
I do understand that the switar 100 poe has an auto iris, right?
I have also read that the original batteries required for this switar auto-iris are no longer manufactured. What is the work around for this if so?
Thanks!!

Your much better off buying an external light meter. Check out the Sekonic L-308's, you can get them for around $100 bucks and less.

Hi, I am interested in your extra canon scoopic adaptor and wonder
exactly which model of mitchell magazine works with this. I have
a scoopic and someone gave me film for a project but it is on 400'
loads. Thanks, eva
