Hello, I have a Beaulieu s2008 with the Angenieux f1.9 8-64mm lens. I would like to use a screw in compensation filter and have therefore measured the thread and bought a 46mm filter on ebay. On receiving the filter I have found out that it is just a little small, does anyone know the correct filter thread size for the above lens?
Regards, Stuart.

Re: Beaulieu s2008 lens filter size?
It's an old SERIES size...not a metric MM size...Series 7 (also known as Series VII to those who understand that numeric system). In truth, it is about 46.5mm but probably has a different thread count than even a correct size metric filter would have...
So, surf on over to B&H Photo Video and look up a series 7 step ring...you will need a larger size than 46mm...try to see if they have a Series 7 to 52mm...better to have a normal filter size - 52mm is the size they use on Nikon, etc.
Best of luck...

Tread size in front of the Angenieux 1,9/8-64 is 46,5mm.

My bad, I believe it is a SERIES VI (Series 6). So, you could go Series 6 to Series 7 adapter ring, then add a Series 7 to 52mm ring...The point is, your lens is non-standard at least in terms of modern filters...check out ebay too, lots of ideas...

Re: Beaulieu s2008 lens filter size?
I am now confused! My Beaulieu lens is definitely 46.5mm as far as I can measure with a ruler, not the most accurate method, so that seems to make sense. What I don't understand is that if the series size is VII then surely that is about 54mm. Also on the Beaulieu.de web site the smallest filter they have that seems to be for the lens I have is the series VII. Are there two different versions of the lens I am talking about (Angenieux F1.9 8-64mm 8x8B). I know there are two versions of the Beaulieu S2008, I have the earlier model. Any thoughts?
It also seems that the adapter ring from male series thread to female metric thread is not as common as the other way around.
Regards, Stuart.

WHile 46.5mm may seem right, I'll bet you it won't screw on due to the thread count (if you know metalwork, you will know what I mean, otherwise, don't worry about it).
So, find yourself a Series 6 threaded filter holder and see if that fits - it should. Then, you can use drop in filters of that size. Or, find an adapter to go from Series 6 to something common like a 46mm - however, you may get vignetting by going to a smaller size like that.
Of course, you can always just use masking tape and tape a filter to the front and just go shoot some film. That's the cheapest method...do some research online to discover more about series filters and all the in and outs. That's what I did...

Filter size for Angenieux 1,9/8-64 for all 2008S are for 46,5mm screw on filters. The lenshood for this lens was a one pice part. If filter was used, lenshood had to be fit in front of this filter.
Angenieux 1,9/8-64 on 4008S/ZM/ZMII cameras, used a 2 part lenshood/filter holder for Serie VII filters.
