I tested the Vision 3 200T before its marketing, Voila for the explanation. The vision 3 is one interesting evolution (better grain, natural colors, better lattitude). Some modifications on the telecinema machine are necessary. I am sorry I cannot discuss more but I have a lot of work

Interesting that they sent the Vision3 200T to you first Freddy, and in Super 8 of all formats. I'm sure the next person on the list will be Walter Mitty, after he has finished and Kodak compare your expert opinions they will probably test it out in 16 & 35mm by sending to some senior members of the ASC.

super8france may still be right if it is a pre-production batch.
a couple of years ago or so if my softdisk serves me well,.... Kodak used PRO8 to slit and perf the E64T from 35mm for a pre-production evaluation batch.
this may be the case for the 200T V3 too.
any takers....?
dont count him out - yet.....

In the past, with the famed Freddychrome, that site had performance trouble too.Blue Audio Visual wrote:Well your website seems to be up and running again, and there is indeed a picture of Vision3 500T posted up on it.super8france wrote:I have the vision 3 500T and the unofficial Vision 3 200T
The grain of the 500T is better than vision 2
and the 200T is more natural for the telecine
The thing is the I think I may have seen that picture before.... The one that Adam Garner posted originally perhaps????
Below a crop of Adam's picture, underneath it Freddy's 'stock' of Vision3 that he shows on his website. Hmmm....
In the past there were some images from Smallformat on the site.
Many pictures on this site are from other people's sites. Check the old s8 boxes. Many if not all are from super8.nl I suppose much of the hard work by busy freddy goes into the cropping of found images

We'll asume copyright and such affairs only are only applicable to the produce of himself and of course are not granted to others.
BTW These prices on gear people use as a doorstopper or presse-papier and which are found at a Euro if not abandoned and for free by the road. Maybe get a french domain and draw up a set of french webpages... Mark a lot of goods as sold and people will be glad to purchase from the sparse stock. At a premium.
Kind regards,
André

I not sure what all the confusion regarding availability is.
I ordered 5x Vision3 500 ASA last Thursday, Oct. 30 here in Toronto from Kodak, i.e.
1. Me: "Do you have the latest Vision3 S8 stock?"
2. Kodak rep: "Does it have a cat# number, sir?"
3. Me: "I am not sure. Can you check?
4. Kodak rep: "Confirmed. It does have a catalog #, it's in stock and how much would you like?
And presto they had delivered to my workplace in under 4 hours.
Albeit I probably am pushing it a bit latitude wise , i.e. shot 1.5 cartridges at exactly 500 ASA with minimal exposure with light readings ranging from f1.8 to f2.0 w/ my trusty Nizo 156 Macro + external 1 degree spotmeter. Location = Jet Fuel Cafe for the start of the Bike Courier Halloween Alley Cat race.
Transfer and results forthcoming over the next month.
Cheers!

There isn't any confusion over availability. You are in North America, and there are definitely supplies over there. It is unclear as to when supplies will trickle through to Europe, but remember that there are only 3 countries in your continent and a multitude in ours. The way in which it is distributed is completely different.

This may sound silly as I don't know the rules, but, perhaps if our friends in the EU would like V3 stock they can order it from the US and have it shipped internationally? Is that out of the question?
Just a thought.

Tell that to Honduras, Guatemala, Panama, Belize, El Salvador and Costa Rica. Oh, and all the Caribbean countries....but remember that there are only 3 countries in your continent and a multitude in ours.
It's almost like you studied geography in U.S. public schools.

Zinger! Caribbean islands are actually territories, not countries... but your point is well taken.
Now, I have to get back to work... I'm busy.

Kodak Vision 3 500T in Super 8 cartridges is available in all over Europe too. I received my test cartridges for smallformat and schmalfilm magazine from Kodak's central European warehouse (France). The German companies http://www.wittner-cinetec.de and http://www.ffr-film.de already sell this film stock since some days.

Cuba? Haiti?
With a little research you'll find quite a few of those islands are their own country and not just owned by another.
But then I doubt Kodak would release V3 in Super 8 in any of them before Europe anyway.

Fair call Will and certainly a careless comment by me, but in my defence the point I was trying to make was about how many sales territories there are in the respective continents! Looking at Kodak's website there are 4 sales territories in the geographical continent:Canada, USA, Mexico & Panama. In Europe there are 24 if I have counted correctly, and just to be really explicit and in the hope that this is not an extended exercise in pedantry I am not counting Turkey as the office there is about 4 miles into the Asian side of Istanbul.Will2 wrote:Tell that to Honduras, Guatemala, Panama, Belize, El Salvador and Costa Rica. Well, unless Obama repeals the iniquitous Helms-Burton act Kodak are not going to sell Super 8 film to Cuba, unless there is some compelling humanitarian reason (which seems pretty unlikely).Cuba? Haiti?

But I'm afraid that ISN'T the case Juergen: availability in Germany doesn't mean there is availability throughout Europe, and there is currently no V3 500T in Super 8 from Kodak UK. The fact that there are supplies filtering through from Chalon-sur-Saône in France means it is on its way, but as I understand the situation Kodak UK won't have any until they have sold off their stock of V2 500T. I suspect the same will be true in a number of other European countries, but this will depend on the position that each of the local companies takes independently as they manage their own affairs and inventories.Juergen wrote:Kodak Vision 3 500T in Super 8 cartridges is available in all over Europe too.
Re: Vision 3 500T (in super 8) is available through Kodak!
Bart,
European customers are able to buy their cartridges of Vision 3 500T S8 in every country of the EU. One must not buy the cartridges at Kodak branches. The problem you have mentioned is not a problem of the customers, its only a problem of the dealers. If you as a dealer are not able to buy Kodak Vision 3 500T S8 at Kodak's UK branch you should complain there. It's a handicap in competition.
