underwater super8

Post by summit2sea »

Hello.

Planning on shooting a underwater short film soon. Has anyone shot super8 underwater before? Any tips/tricks to tackling this special world? What film stock would be the best option?

Thanks :)

Wow - great video!

Did you do any color correction to it? Also some clips were a bit 'hazey' - was that added or was just exposed like that?

Well done :)

I saw the 'Tonga Underwater' clip on Youtube - very nice stuff there! I think with a bit of color correction some stuff would actually 'pop' out. I travel to Fiji quite often and cant wait to bring the Nautica on one of my dive trips!

Thanks. Color Correction was done all in Telecine. Cinelicious in Hollywood transferred it for me.

I'm not sure which shots you are referring to being hazey. If it the underwater stuff, maybe its because the water was not crystal clear. It was slightly murky. But visibility was still very good. As far as the other footage, I used E64T, K40, tri-x and plus-x, So different stocks retained different looks.
