Tri-x test with canon 814az

Hi!
First time testing tri-x black & white film. With my canon 814 az, 24 fps auto exposure. Wath did i do wrong wath did i do right.

I dunno what u did right or wrong, that all depends on how you expected your footage to look like. It looks good to me... Did you use the 'normal' autozoom or the autozoom electronic?

Well maybe i expected a bit bether contrast. Maybe i´ll just have to leran to use the exposure. Should i use some kind of filter? manual exposure? Is the contrast bether win trix- plus?

It's nice but a little too dark and bluish to my eyes. I don't know if it's due to the telecine... On my 814 AZ-E TRi-X shot at 18 fps looks perfect in full automatic mode. Anyway the little white dots on the picture may be related to a bad processing...

Well, first of all, the only tri-x that I've shot so far was with a 814electronic, but I don't think that should make too big of a difference.. Anyways about the contrast, i think it depends on a lot of stuff. First of all, was it sunny or cloudy when you shot the footage? But then maybe it's due to the telecine that there isn't too much contrast in the picture.. Did you look at your footage on a projector? If that looks ok to you, you know it's the telecine.. If not, maybe it was bad processing like miki-814 said..

I'm the guy you replied to on utube (tri x birds). I've shots dozens of carts indoors and out on the AZ with Tri X - all on auto @ 18 and 24 fps. I've never use manual once.

I agree your footage lacks contrast but the main thing that catches my eye is its blueness. Why is is so blue?

Don´t have a projector. Maybe i´ll check it out on my wiwer another day. It´s telecined by uppsalabildteknik (he is someware here on the this forum) Think it´s flashscan8. duno. I heard only good things about their/his scaning. Processing was made by Andec.

The wather was cloudy, Next time i´ll try tri- i will give my nizo a chance, ande see wath happends.

Try to take advantage of the whole grayscale when shooting B/W. It might be the screen I'm watching it on or just the Vimeo compression, doe. :?

Do you use a light meter otherwise?

I liked the visual flow of it. Keep it up!

I used autoexposure, moustly becuce i am lazy I´ll gues i have to take the time to learn to do that myself. I´ll think it would be woth it. I´m new to analog format, i´m used to set the exposure and see the result directly in the digital wiewfinder.
