Smallest Super 8 Camera?
I have a Canon 310 and I'm fairly happy with it, but in the never ending camera quest I was wondering if there are any other really small cameras worth looking at.
Something that can almost fit in a big cargo pants pocket, with 24fps if at all possible. For vacation shots.

Re: Smallest Super 8 Camera?
Yes there are. In order of smallness. This is a rough estimate:
Small:
Konica Compact 8
Chinon Pocket 8 (without addons)
Eumig Mini 3:
Detachable handle, only 18 fps, +corr.
Got a "clever" focus syle so "anyone can use it
Agfa Microflex Something
Bauer Star
A little bit bigger
Chinon Pocket 8 (with addons)
Eumig Mini 5:
Detachable handle, 18,24 fps, +corr.
Manual focus
A little bit bigger than that
Nizo 156/148 and so on
Looks good (hey, it's important!)
collapsibal handle and "long" lens makes the camera "long" on "standby" mode
I'm sure someone will edit me.

Re: Smallest Super 8 Camera?
I have the Konica compact 8 and it is truly an outstanding camera. It's amazing how good the footage is with that tiny lens. One problem, which is true of the Bauer and I suspect many of the others on this list, is that it was built for exposing Kodachrome only.
Re: Smallest Super 8 Camera?
A Bolex 350 macro is fairly small and supports 24 fps.

Gianni, thanks for the photos, they help quite a bit. How many cameras do you own? 8O
Anyone work with one of these? It loads from the rear. (that sounds bad.) Hard to gauge size however.
Looks like it would make a great Star Trek prop.

Re: Smallest Super 8 Camera?
That is the Technicolor Mark Ten made by Minolta. all metal construction and not pocket size. but will meter 64T and only needs AA cells. (suitable for space tourism?)
i also have the Konica Compact and Chinon Pocket, and would add to the list Bolex 7.5 which is just cargo pocket size and also rear loaded.
As far as the 'Smallest' my answer would be the Konica. its footprint is no bigger than the Fujica P1(single8).

Forward, into the past.
Re: Smallest Super 8 Camera?
I've got a Revue Pocket-L (Chinon Pocket clone) which is super tiny. There's also a Porst Pocket that looks small.

Re: Smallest Super 8 Camera?
There's a B&H that the same thing as the Technicolor.
You're all forgetting to mention an excellent, well built and sturdy pocket camera that also does titling:
Elmo Super 103t. Great featured cam can use external fader/titles/superimpose etc. Detachable pistol grip, meters E64T properly, BLC. 2AA's
Cheers,

Re: Smallest Super 8 Camera?
Not the smallest, but pretty compact when you remove the zoom lens and pistol grip- my old favourite- the Zenit Quarz! Fixed focus lens which lets in bags of light, plus enough features to keep you happy. Looks like a camera from an even earlier era!

Re: Smallest Super 8 Camera?
The REVUE Super 8-pocket L is a very small camera. (14 x 9 x 4 cm)
It is an ideal camera for holidays !
