price developing single 8 at Retro8

Post by paul »

My dear friends.. :D

Price of developing single 8 at Retro8 has gone up to 15 euros per cartridge indeed. I got that direct from Retro8. The reason that was given was that expenses for transport, electricity etc. have gone up higher.

I just wanted to make sure how much money I had to send, so I send him an email. And this was the answer I got.

Best regards,

Paul

With the worldwide recession about to come on in full force, I wonder how long this small format stuff (all gauges) will be around for...Dang...that's expensive...

Producing: No.
Selling: Yes. (the remaining stock will last until the end of this year (RT200N) or until 2010/2011 (R25N) according to fuji)
Processing: Yes (until 2012 or longer, depending on demand)
Post-Striping: Yes (until 2012 or longer, depending on demand)
This space was left intenionally blank.

You had better stuck with earlier information.
Now you need to pay more.

Seems Kohyama-san of retro8.com cannot make up his mind about pricing. First it is one amount then about 18 and then 15. Rather odd (or stupid). For those not knowing the EUro-Yen exchange has not changed much last months or for a year. The costs have certainly not gone up with 50%
Pricing is likely adopted to the likeliness of still getting people who pay the asked price. Since E64T processing takes about Euro 15 retail in Europe why should/need Single-8 processing be cheaper from abroad.
Other retro8 items are priced like that. I know what things cost in Japan retailshops. I have been to Japan last month. Splicing tape is one third. Strange, but a standard shop item (i.e. non-specialized shops seem to sell these, but then they are much more service minded there).
The shipping on the Gakken projector is certainly not Euro 45 more. So why is a Europe projector Euro 30 more expensive then a Japan version.
Kind regards,

André
