7363 stock - fair pricing?

OK so I bought a bunch of Kodak 7363 film stock that was reperfed for regular 8mm. Not 100% sure on its age, but I am 100% certain that it will develop nicely. In fact I was surprised at how "normal" it came out. It definitely has an odd thing where the red is a "velvety" black as everybody has noted, but it's hard to really put your finger on it when you're reviewing the film, at least at first.

Anyway I'm awaiting John Schwind to respool this stock for me onto 25 foot R8 spools, but I'm not planning on keeping over 600 feet of this film stock handy. Don't get me wrong I like shooting it, but it's not an extremely versatile film and I don't shoot a lot of 8mm as it is.

So I want to sell some of the film, maybe recover some of my expenses and make a few people happy in the process. What can I sell this stock for in 25 foot spools? I was thinking 7 bucks a roll plus a reasonable shipping charge on fleabay. Any thoughts? Not sure if this is the best forum to post this on, your responses are appreciated anyway. Thanks!

Yes, it has been reperforated for regular 8mm cameras. Works well, feeds smoothly through both of my cameras.

Where did you get it reperfed?

I'm in the market for Double 8 now but suprised by the high prices. 7363 ought to be cheap - it's a really great look but so slow. I can't find it in the uk for less than £20 a roll which i find depressing.
Has anyone tried Kahl's b/w print film?
it seems like 400foot of that and some empty spools is way to go, for me anyway.

Mat I've found that R8 film is an outrageously priced comodity these days. I seldom can afford to shoot film, but the flip side is that I usually try to make it count when I get it.


The film I'm planning on selling was bought from a reputable ebay seller in its current state. He mentioned the name of the place that did the work but I didn't get it in writing. I only know it was in England somewhere.

Humm... Sounds interesting. I'm yer huckleberry..... What process is used? Can it be easily be processed at home?

James, I send out all of my processing B&W to Film and Video Services and while I do include a notification that the stock is 7363, I do not think it requires any other considerations (compared with say CineX).

The film is extremely slow - exposed at 10 ASA I got some good exposures, although because it is "Red blind", I've been told that light should be measured from green for best possible metering. It is one of the less forgiving films I have shot, probably a factor of the ultra high contrast, but it can give some really cool results. I'd suggest poking around this forum and google searching some stills if you get the chance - absolutely fascinating stuff.

It processes nicely with just about anything. Mutigrade paper dev works a treat if I remember rightly, nice and strong and hot for a punchy look.
It's lith film though, a beautiful yellow coloured emulsion, so what i want to try is processing in lith dev which ought to give almost completely black and white with no grey tones. Dont know how to expose for the threshold but the other nice thing about it is it can be done under red light so you can stop it when it looks right. great stuff.
