I have a Hanimex E400 dual editor. The bulb packed up so I replaced with the required 6v 10w one.Now Ican only get a faint pic outline which is useless for editing. Is there a special type of reflective unit needed? Hanimex here ( West Australia) don't seem to know too much about 8mm!

Assuming that the lamp is the correct type and power, the chances are that you need to adjust it's position.

Most editors have a facility for rotating the lamp so that the filament is parallel to the film. Many allow the lamp to be tilted (three screws?) and even moved in and out to achive maximum light efficiency.

Thanks Tim,
I did what you suggested and there a definate improvement but I intend to advertise locally in the hope of getting another dual 8 editor with a clearer picture. Any suggestions would be welcome!

I have two dual 8 editors. A Yashica 8PE-RS and an HPI Vernon. Both are good but the Yashica has an excellent image. I have seen both on eBay recently. I have also used Baia editors in the past but I have found them to be poorly made and do not have as good an image. I have heard the Goko editors are good ones to use. I have a 16mm Craig editor and they have made Super 8 models. But I have never seen one.
