Crystal Motors for Arri 16-S/M Returning

Post by clivetobin »

In a few months maybe.

Owing to popular request, and because we are finally getting caught up with orders for our TVT telecine equipment, and because other companies are working on "the first fully satisfactory" (their words) Super-16 conversions for these cameras.

We can make 25 units of the TCS TXM-22A before we exhaust our stocks of circuit boards.

The motors will retain the usual sound sync crystal speeds of 24, 25 and 30 FPS plus some lower and higher ones, with operation on 12 volts DC. We are using an improved speed switch with a white arrow that clearly points to the desired speed. This should eliminate the confusion where some users (who had obviously never read the instructions) attempted to set the screwdriver slot (instead of the molded-in arrow) to the desired speed.

Since the 50 FPS speed is not always reachable with some cameras and batteries we will probably leave off its marking on the dial. We are also restoring the 6 FPS speed, which some users complained about, that was provided on the prior model TXM-22 but omitted on the TXM-22A. The speeds will still be on the switch but not marked. A little secret function for those "in the know." Including the readers of this Forum.

The TXM-22A retains the out-of-sync warning light and Milliframe Controller socket, although this latter item is discontinued there are probably hundreds of them around.

Hello Clive!!
I just wanted to extend a 'hello'. I lost track of these forums several years ago and just now wandered back. I benefitted from some of your technical advice in the duration... It's great to find you here!

Great news! The Arri S and M cameras are just great and your motor will make them ever more viable for film use today.
