Importing OMF into FCP [??]
...We want to export the audio track from a short film so that we can work it in Pro Tools. What is the best method for doing this? The problem that we have discovered is FCP will not allow importing OMF. FCP exports OMF, but does not import....What is up with that?

..Thanks. We are going to bounce back with the .aif.... We are using PRo Tools 7.1 and it has a video track.. I'm fascinated by the program! You can edit in millisecond increments.. Amazing! The reason I wanted to bring back the OMF is to keep the sound elements un-nested, but I think we can work around having them nested...all in all starting to feel like cinema though. Who was it who said sound is two thirds of the experience?...Kurosawa?
The sound mix is the fun part to be sure..

for reference, the FCP <> Avid tool is Automatic Duck: http://www.automaticduck.com/products/

You can do even better than that... most audio NLEs can edit down to single sample increments... how's that for precise! My editor of choice for producing music, as well as mixing audio to picture, is the relatively inexpensive and very powerful Adobe Audition.

...I have another FCP question and don't want to litter the board with all of my NLE questions so hopefully it will get picked up in this one.
I made one of my sequences "widescreen" using the video filters and now I can't turn it back to normal. How do you turn off the widescreen effect in FCP?
Thanks in advance,
Steve

a side note, since this is what i thought you were asking and it's something i'm sure you'll run into: if you have a 16:9 sequence and drop 4:3 material on it, it will get black sides, then if you uncheck the box the footage gets squeezed, keeping the sides. the solution is to select all clips, do edit->remove attributes, selecting distort, and clicking ok. voila.
