Its Been Fun

Post by RET80 »

Well I came to this forum seeking important advice regarding film and how to use it. I would like to thank you all for your wonderful help. Without you all and the help of this forum, I wouldn't know a fraction of what I do today. I ended up getting a perforation on my Bolex 160 lens that distorted my images badly. So with that, I laid my Bolex 160 to rest in its little leather case for good. Without a decent super 8 camera to use for my upcoming film, I had to make the hasty decision to switch to digital film. I have an existing Canon Zr800 laying around so I may use that. Either that or I am going to be using a rental from a local TV station in Long Beach to continue my work on this film. The remaining 200t stock I have will be kept in a fridge until a film major friend of mine will pick it up to use (3 carts). On that note, I will be seeking digital help (if needed) on a new forum (http://www.videoforums.co.uk/ ) and I am departing from this one (Since not a lot of digital film is discussed here). I just wanted to let you all know that you all have done a wonderful job helping me and as well as many other people, new and old alike on this forum. If any of you want, I can always post the link on a new thread in the near future to my film's website once we get all of our information together.

Anyway, good luck to you all. All of you are wonderful people and of course, thanks for all of your help.

RET,
Frank.

You don't get away that easy. Sooner or later you will end up with another camera in your hand.

Or you be sitting there turning up the contrast and fiddling with the gamma, trying to give your video a reversal stock look.

Once it's in your blood, there is no getting away.

See ya

I don't think I need 2 Canons, I'll sell you my 814E or 1014E ;)
I may sound stupid, but I hide it well.

Yeah, what Joe said. Check in from time to time. We're all wrestling with the same issues. Besides, let us know how the film is going.

Oh I will from time to time. Check out what's new and what's going on in the world of small gauge film but not as often as I usually do. I'll always try to keep you guys updated if you want. But just as a heads up, the projects I will do will not be on film. :P

Unless it's something spur of the moment I can shoot on my old kodak S8

Good luck to you and congratulations. You're moving on up to digital. We'll all be there some day too. I'm half-way there myself. I shoot both film and SD video--I have a prosumer Panasonic that shoots 24p and 60i. But I'm pretty much ready to abandon super 8 and sell my Nizo and Zeiss Moviflex.
Best,
Victor

Yep, in a couple weeks you'll be spending all your time at the RED website, drooling over their vaporware camera. Of course it might actually arrive before 2012 and you can go spend $17,000 to score one. You'll still need lenses, HD monitor and Sachtler fluid tripod. But videotape is cheap! Think of all the money you'll save

A perforation is a hole. Ending up with one in a camera lens (especially a thick, 1.5" diameter lens), is an achievement of the highest order. Congratulations!

Bolex 160 is cheap. I have a rack of them and could even send you a replacement front element. You will not act on this offer.

Buh Bye.

Heck, I need a fluid head and a full set of primes and just upgraded to a new computer to be able to edit HD... and 90% of what I shoot is film. :D
