ektachrome 64t back from walmart-awsome!

Post by super8er »

i finaly shot some 64t and was able to get it processed on my first try sending it, it only took 6 days and came back with a price tag of 4.88 :D
dwaynes did a great job processing it as far as i can see. 64t really has great saturated colors and exellent sharpness.unfourtunetly as all whove used it know the grain looks like the old tri-x 8O but it is a nice looking grain. i wish kodak would come out with 100d.

I like the 64T standard, I just wish it was a T-grain film.
I may sound stupid, but I hide it well.

super8er, could you briefly describe how you filled out the envelope at Wal-Mart? I am going to try to process a cart tomorrow there.

Thanks,

That will be an interesting experiment.

I spoke to a local Walmart clerk here in Austin. He didn't know what movie film (let alone S-8 film) is -- seriously!

By passing the 'personnel' by using a drop off box may be the answer.

I wonder who opens the drop off envelopes?

I'll bet your fingers were crossed when you left the store.

I have had good luck with Walmart lately. I write " Kodachrome(or Ektachrome) film send to Dwayne's parson Kansas" I am in California. The film is sent to Fuji Oregon. When I call the info line I get " slide film sent to outlab". turn around time is good. Quality looks good. I have processed reg 8 Kodachrome, S8 Kodachrome and E64T. They will also process 16mm kodachrome. You can not process 100D through Walmart.

No - NONE of the tunes at wallyworld know about film PERIOD. the drop box is picked up by FUJI staff who has the contract to deliver strange films to wallmart. It's best not to ask the wallmart temps anything other than to flash a fiver and get your change.

ANd ditto to what mr8mm said. Sometimes it hit, sometimes its miss.

I would buy pet food or laundry detergent at Wal-Mart -- wouldn't trust them to handle film anymore -- they almost lost some K40 of mine a couple of years ago...buyer beware!

I'm boycotting Walmart. At any rate, I'd rather just send my film to Dwayne's myself and KNOW that it's in good hands.

Have you SEEN the federal mail service? I agree its better than most countries but still, compared to private courier paid for by Fuji - I think the safety factor features on walmarts side. Of course, you could fedex or, lord forbid, dhl it over there...and I think that dhl thread was scary enough as it is...

you pays your monies and takes your chances...

Oh, and pet food would be the last thing I buy at walmart...as long as it is made in USA, I don't care who sells it...now if only farmers markets sold film.

Do you know what Walmart charges for 16mm Kodachrome processing? I have 4 rolls and it would be nice to get a break on processing charges and shipping.

It is my understanding that all Kodachrome is priced at $4.88 even the 16mm 100ft.

Awhile back someone else said that Walmart was also processing 200 foot cartridges for the same $4.88. Pretty phenomenal if true...

More WALMART madness.

Post by ALAN »

Well, after giving the experiment a week to fester, I went back to WALMART prepared for an afternoon of happy DIY telecine, to pick up my roll of T64

The counter drone hadn't known what to do with it, even though I wrote: Send to DWYANES in Parson Kansas for processing, so she just dropped it in the finished work drawer -- out of sight...

Today, after two sessions with the her dept. manager the drone returned: "You have to use a FUJI envelope." "Excellent!" says I. "Delighted."

So, the adventure continues. We'll see what next week brings, frustration-wise.

To be continued:
