hi guys... we've had a busy couple of months at danimations... and one of our recent works has just been entered in an online music vid festival. Check out the clip here... it was shot on two cameras.. a Beaulieu ZMII and a Eumig 881 (for long exposures). happy to field any questions re: technique you may have... if you take a mo' to vote for the clip.

5 votes (before the end of Friday) will get us a cinema screening in Toronto, and we'll be happy with that.

Thanks James! Did you notice the focus pulls that we worked during telecine? that's those soft frogs-eggs-looking moments. we kept the digital fx to a minimum... just basic luma keying (to layer images) and some mirror effects. we use premiere pro2 to edit and are quite happy with it.

the frames with long lines in them were all shot using the long exposure capabilities of the Eumig 881. The close stuff was shot at almost full zoom on my Beaulieu 4008ZMII. we used Ektachrome64T, and shot the fireworks on New Year's Eve, 2006-2007 at Glenelg... a beachside suburb of my hometown, Adelaide in SA. The fireworks were being launched of a jetty (you call them piers?) to it was easy to get a good angle, even on stuff that was going off from ground level.

The lateral blurring shots were shot out of train window on a trip through the Netherlands, between Maastricht and Amsterdam by night.

I can't belive you got shots that good w/ E64T. Were you using any filter? As to jettys/piers... A jetty is man made out of rock to protect an inlet or bay. A pier is a large dock up high going way out into the surf. So probably the same thing

..... heheh..... I've been to Masstrict. Beautiful place.

what you call a jetty we call a spit, or a breakwater.

a jetty to us is typically wooden planks supported by wooden or metal columns, like a long boardwalk straight out to sea to service ships/fishermen etc. the difference of a hemisphere, hey ;)

maastricht is a nice spot... we shot some more footage there that's in our image bank waiting for the right occasion... will def. post links to any new work we produce on this board. thanks for the comments!
