Another Beaulieu battery question
Advice needed! Can I use 1.2v rechargable NiCad cells in my Beaulieu 6008 battery pack? Will it give a better (longer) performance than 1.5v disposable cells? If the answer is yes, can I charge through the camera (as with the 8.4v 7-cell sealed NiCad pack)?
Yes, According to the manual, NiCad cells will power more carts than Alkaline (non-rechargeable) cells. They can be charged 'in-camera' just like any other rechargeable power source that sits in the handle of the camera.
However, I think an 8.4v pack (internal or external) is the best solution. 6 AA cells are insufficient for reliable timelapse work, sound carts or powering any built-in crystal sync module.

Re: Another Beaulieu battery question
why not use Nimh cells? They have a much higher power density than NiCads so they last longer.

Don't worry about equipment so much and make your movie!
