Please help me with my Nizo 6080!

Post by Bloomsday »

Hi everyone! I've been away from the boards from a while, very busy moving into a new place and wrapping up my film project. Anyway, I just bought a Nizo 6080 but I'm getting frustrated really fast.

I might just be missing something incredibly simple.

I put batteries in it (1.5V AAs) and I get NO response. No lights, nothing. I've got the master switch depressed and I've tried all sorts of settings on the camera. I've looked through the manual to no avail. I don't know if my battery box is messed up or if I'm inserting the batteries wrong or something. Is it a weird battery setup? If not, I would have to think that the darn thing is broken (grr). Do you have any hints for me?

Thanks.

make sure the battery is properly placed.
second - check the MAster switch - located under the handle.
third - did you buy it from Dr. Peters/Bonanzabike/Alex/Super8cam/etc

if yes to third then sorry dude :(

the battery should be

+ - +
- + -

Just to be sure...

I am looking at my accumulator box. The type is upright and the contacts are on the bottom. When I pull off the top, what should I see? With batteries loaded, I see the following from the top:

-+
+-
-+

Is that correct? To be truthful, I tried it the opposite way as well and neither worked.

:-(

I didn't buy the cam from Alex/Dr. Peters/whoever. But the guy DID say it worked. I'll have to contact him.

Thanks.

Thank God you did NOT by it from Dr. Alex Peters. In my opinion he is a rip. From my experience Nizos are very tempermental when it comes to their light meters. Have you tried manual only using an external cine light meter? Good luck.

I had the same problem with my Nizo 6080 a while ago.
Nizos can only be used with 1,2 V cells. The voltage gets too high when using these 1,5 V AA batteries. So try some rechargable cells instead.

Best wishes, Nico
