Bad cartridge???

Post by Stephenbyron »

I was filming last weekend and I put in a new roll of super 8 Kodak tri-x. When I started filming it ran for a few seconds than stopped, ran again then stopped. This happened three times. Then I took the catridge out of the camera and put it back in. The camera stayed running but I later found out the film wasnt going through the camera. There were scratch marks inbetween the sprocket holes, like it was trying to catch but couldnt.
The mechanics of the camera seem to be working correctly, so do you think it could have been a jammed cartridge? Or somethng else?

The same thing happened to me last month with a cart of Tri-X.
Began jamming towards the end of the cart. Evident by scratches and torn perfs.

Cart ID is:

115 001.02 Slit- 65

So, is this something that happens every so often, or is it a defective batch?

If I ever get a cart jamming, I take it out of the camera and slap it down HARD onto a rigid surface like a table. Often works.
