Leicina connector 22 225 proprietary or industry standard

Post by beaunizo »

Anybody got a tip on this Leicina connector. Is it proprietary or is there an industry standard for the part# 22 225? And is it still available?
I need one to make a cable for my ST-1 controller. Also I think one can make an electronic remote-control cable for the Leicina. It is built into some shoulder pods from Leica.

Thanks!

Hi beaunizo,
you can make an acceptable connector from a piece of vero board (PCB prototype pre-drilled board). Destroy a din plug and salvage the pins and solder these into a piece of vero board you cut to the right size. Solder your wires to the pins and use some quick setting epoxy resin to reinforce the back and secure the wires and you should end up with a usable solution. The pitch isn't perfect so its a bit of a tight fit but it works.

Good luck,
Mark

Thanks, thus it would be just round pins. Vaguely I was expecting it to have blades. When going experimental I might just aswell drill the holes properly aligned. See what comes off it.

Hello beaunizo,

This is a great drawing. I have the Leicina RT1 Super using the same plug.

What fails me is the functional description of the pins, plus the electrical values in or out. At least the remote control already makes a lot of sense, but there is much more here in functions.

Do you have a source? Anybody?

Well, here you have a manual:
http://www.mondofoto.com/manuals/leicina_st1.zip

and this .no site is mirroring many manuals in PDF.

The ST-1 controller booklet has wiring schemes on the last pages.

Don't fry your camera. :? There are live power lines there. The ST-1 takes batteries too and you don't want to empty these batteries through the wrong channels in the camera.

Thanks! Great stuff. This should do it, I guess.

For the end that plugs into the ST-1 unit the correct plugs are available from Rapid Electronics here in the UK.

They are the proper locking type and fit. Some of the DIN plugs I tried didn't fit very well at all.
