Well, Andec will release these stocks in the course of this month as Wittner and Kahl will do.

I got the feelling that Kahl produce these stocks with this own perfing machine to Andec & Wittner.

I hope an accessible price. This way buying 50 ft reloadable cartriges in Ukraine or in Kahl Film, It's possible the use of these film stocks splitting the 200 ft of film in 50 ft rolls.

hello,

i have not used fujo s8 film before. regarding these particular stocks, could anyone tell me a little bit about them, and when and why one would use them over the normal kodak film stocks or pro8mm film stocks currently avaiable ... aside from price!! some of the cameras i have purchased over the past few months came with film ... i have some agfachrome film ... what is this stuff like? and what asa/iso is it?

also, short from making a new film mag to support the 200' filmstock, does anyone know where to purchase a film mag for the beaulieu 7008pro camera?

thanks.

RT200N SOUND FILM?

Post by dave »

IT'S JUST A THOUGHT BUT FUJI'S VERSION OF K40 IS AVAILABLE AS RT200N . FUJI WILL ADD SOUND STRIPE ONLY AS THE FILM IS PROCESSED NOT AFTER OR BEFORE.
WITTNER COULD BUY FUJI IN BULK AND STRIPE THE FILM AND PLACE IT ON 200FT SPOOLS. WHY THE HELL WILL FUJI NOT PROCESS FUJI FILM IF IT COMES BACK TO THEM ON THE 200FT SPOOLS. I GUESS ITS A NATIONAL PLOT TO KEEP US FROM SHOOTING SINGLE SOUND SYSTEM FILM

Hi Eric.

The Fuji Filmstock is technically much less grainy than the Kodak counterparts. From Spec the Fuji 500 Has a RMS granulation of 4.0 while as K40 for instance has 9.0. Bigger is bigger. I have 24 pcs of S8 Fuji F500T and plan to do some test rolls to compare with the V500T from Kodak which I shot last year to compare. Technically the film scanner may become the weak point

You will find all info you need about teh Fuji film stock here.

You can buy the 7008 60m mag from here:

Actually it is pretty simple to modify the Single8/S8 magazine the Japanese guy sells for $80 to accept the 60m spools. Much better solution if you ask me. It may be combined with a pressureplate from a broken ´FujiKa Si8 or possibly a DR8 cam. Some of the fancy functions of the Bavaria unit may be lacking but what the heck?

they're much less contrasty and with more pastel colors. i've used their 400 asa stock in 16 mm and it looks great. as for the supposed lower grain, i'm not sure about that. it might be "technically" less grainy but there's no dramatic difference there.

You may very well be right Mattias. I may shoot a Kodak v2/500T to compare the two later. The kodak V/500T (old) isnt´t that bad either and has acceptably low grain when there is suffucient light.

The new Kodak v2/500T is supposed to have the equal grainage to the Kodak V200T.

Grain is a funny thing with S8 though. With my tests I found the Kodak 250D slighly less grainy than the V200T and the grain was more homogeous which made it slightly more pleasant in some ways.

One >possibly< good thing about the kahl/Fuji is that the perforations may be better than those done at PRO8mm whose machinery do not seem to like the Fuji base very well. Perfect perf may be better registration.

Carlos - how is the perforation on the films you buy from Kahl. Have you checked the perf quality?

just remember that kahl film are crooks. i can't say much about using their services when they're the only ones providing it, but they should be avoided at all cost. i'm not the only one who got my film scratched and completely dusted down by them and then met nothing but their famous "customer care through complete and utter silence".
