Nobody mentioned Porky's, which was, and perhaps still is, the most profitable film to come out of Canada. It's not something we are that proud of, but I thought I'd mention it.

They mentioned both films on the local coverage in SoCal - that was nice. Still, a real waste. I just wish people would get upset over this issue instead of free, oops I mean $3.50 gasoline. Personally, I can't wait till gas prices hit $5+ to get these "poor" drivers off the road - and their BIG trucks.

Well, we're trying in Canada. I suspect that our new $4,000 tax on Hummers and Suburbans will just anger legions of soccer moms who absolutely require their large vehicles for grocery shopping and troop mobilizations.super8man wrote:Personally, I can't wait till gas prices hit $5+ to get these "poor" drivers off the road - and their BIG trucks.

write idea, wrong method of implementation...Canada should have based it on YEARLY registration, not point of initial sale. All that tax does (and the corresponding rebates for high mileage cars) is alter the resale prices of used vehicles, etc. It does nothing for people who buy a "used" 2007 SUV in 2009.
But yes, I will accept this is a first salvo across the bow of SUVs. The best news in the USA is the recognition of CO2 as a pollutant. This will now start the real action of cleaning up cars.
Cheers,
Mike

Yes, soon we will have those uneducated SUV driving rednecks cars all taken away from them by the litigation of the government. Once that is done and society is re-educated we will soon see that everyone will drive hydrogen cars that are more eco-friendly. Guns will be outlawed; disagreements will be settled over games of croquet. Mankind will also stop eating meat or animal byproducts and will start dressing in cloths made entirely out of hemp. The sun will always shine and the birds will always sing. Beautiful rainbows will shine across the sky in majestic beauty. Oh what a day that will be!
