ordering film

Post by BSMaier »

I thinks its been 6 or more years since I bought any new film. I used to order directly from kodak with a student discount and get film for around $9 roll for BW and $11 for k40 and $13 for ect125. But it appears most of the stocks have changed.

So what is the best place to get film and what are the going rates these days?

Thanks
Brian

Depends on where you're located... Please specify and you'll get some good advice.

Right now im in los angeles. And I guess stock wise I would just be interested in the 5 kodak has. None of the pro8mm or similar. Really i feel silly asking because most of the main sites have prices listed. Just wasn't sure if there was kind of a "goto" place these days that I may be missing.

Why not goto Kodaks headquarters in LA? I went to the one in NYC it was nice. Isn't there other places around LA that you can also buy film?

Either go to Kodak or you can get all these films and more at both:

http://www.spectrafilmandvideo.com or
http://www.pro8mm.com

and probably some other places near LA too.

Here are the prices from Kodak USA last time I checked... just call them up and order via credit card. Their next day shipping is cheap too.

Of course you can just go to Kodak's LA office and get these prices and save the shipping too...

Or you could buy my Vision 200 stock off Ebay with processing.

I bought a bunch 2 years ago and only used a few rolls.

Are those rates valid for international shipping? Even without the discounts that is incredibly cheap.

Does anyone know:

- If there is an e-mail address we can order via?
- If they ship to Europe?
- How much shipping they charge for 10 cartridges or so?

I remember contacting Kodak in the UK a while ago and the prices were only a pound or two cheaper than buying from Jessops or the Widescreen Centre!

Ta!

I hadn't considered overseas shipping so no, those ship rates don't apply. I'd probably ship overseas but you must know shipping would be more.

Sorry I meant directly from Kodak USA to the UK at the cheap Kodak rates listed above.

You must have sold out in any case as the link doesn't work

For a student black and white at £4 per roll would be incredible! It costs £15 a roll from Jessops (but then it does have to be imported.)

You can also get all Super 8 film stocks, except for Vision2 500T from http://www.myoldcamera.com/. The $3.00 shipping to anywhere in the world for orders over $20.00 should save you some $$$.

Film prices are as follows:

Plus-x - $14.99
Tri-x - $14.99
Ektachrome 64T - $18.99
Vision2 200T - $19.99

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I corrected the link anyway.

Interesting that Kodak doesn't seem to give retailers a break on stock... you'd think they'd get 20% off or something but I'm pretty sure they just charge stores the same as us calling direct.
