Traveling Cinema

Post by mediabay »

To me there is something very nostalgic and romantic about traveling outdoor cinemas. So when I recently ran across these two films I was pleased to see this idea expressed in a documentary and drama.

The first one is from Poland called "Kino Objazdowe" or "The Traveling Cinema". Two guys with a 16mm projector travel around trying to raise some money to get an apartment. Here is a link to a review with pictures - Too bad the movie doesn't merit a good review:

The next film promises to be better - at least from a critical standpoint - since it was co-produced in Japan at NHK. This film is called "Tibetan Cinema Paradise" and is about a traveling cinema in Tibet. http://sales.micojapan.com/pgm.asp?N=200470
I've asked the producers for more information and will let you know what I find out.

Cheers,
Philip
