Super 8 screen saver

Post by Scotness »

I'd like to make a Super 8 screensaver - just a simple slide show - which I'll make available for anyone to download for free.

I was thinking the images could be something like:

* frame grabs
* photos of cameras
* scans of old ads
* photos of projectors or cartridges
* posters from films shot on Super 8
* pics of celebrities with Super 8 cameras
* Anything really that evokes the stuff
* Even sound samples of cameras and projectors

So if you've got any media you want to contribute just attach it or link to it in this thread.

I picture this as a pretty simple screen saver - so don't expect anything to grandiose.

The only authoring programmes I've got are shareware with nag screens in them - so if anyone knows of any complete freeware screen saver authoring programmes let me know that as well.

Thanks :-)

BUMP

Come on guys - post some stills etc -- I could go through the threads and grab stuff but that wouldn't be right - I'd rather it was authorised!

Well that pics going in!

About the images don't know about uploading them here - but if they're already on the net you can display them in the thread with the img tags.

Otherwise just email them to me at scot(blahblahblah)mcphie@yahoo.com.au

Remember to get rid of the brackets and the blah blah blah bit!

The other thing I can do too is hunt round through the threads and find some pics and then ask if I can use them - but to save me the work anyone who wants to forward me some pics please do

There have been mention of links to other pics of famous people with a Super-8. J Hendrikx J Morrison

BTW here you have Brooke in hi-res:
http://www.hollywoodtuna.com/images/big ... _2_big.jpg

I suppose she can play with anybody's Canon here. :)

I think your screensaver should concentrate on one theme of super-8. And you could make several then with different themes.

One with running S8 clips should be nice. Show the image with the perforation to get in contact of real film feeling.
Kind regards,

thanks for that - I'd hate to have to up-res her and pixelate her :roll: Although I should stress this is not meant to be "The Girls of Super 8" screensaver...but then any such submission will be dutifully looked into 8O :lol:

Good diea - but I'm not going to put that much effort into it! Mine will be a random mix

that's a good idea - and one that WP owners could help with - however my software I think will just handle still images, not clips

I think I'll just go round and grab some images too - I've got a whole lot of poster art from another thread

Scot, I've got some pictures ready for you. A mix of Super 8 camera pictures and ads from Bolex (of course) and other manufacturers. Lots of polyester, big sideburns and 1970s women. :lol:

Check your email or PM for details.

By the way, is this a Mac or PC screensaver?

Well you can use any framegrab you can find on my webpage, they are all super8, single8 or regular8 images: http://www.uppsalabildteknik.com/provfilmer2.php

They are all signed with the origin though...
